Background - variety history - Turf grasses
LISABELLE and LIPROSA
1983
LISABELLE – a new perennial ryegrass variety with exceptionally fine leaf and high resilience is approved. A variety that enriches the sports turf sector.
From DSV breeding comes the first short fescue LIPROSA. The variety stood out for its fineness and density.
It was listed throughout Europe.

LIMOUSINE
1985
The unique success story of LIMOUSINE meadow grass began on January 31, 1986, when it was registered with the Federal Office of Plant Varieties. Here, it received the highest score of 9 for its suitability for use and high-endurance grass. Together with its special grain density, these were the best prerequisites for a promising development. The first, hopeful propagation, however, ended rather abruptly with a nasty surprise: during a maneuver of British troops, this first precious planted field was used as a "parking lot" for British tanks and completely destroyed. But this did not dampen the success story: after the registration in Germany, further registrations followed quickly in France, England and the Netherlands. LIMOUSINE also became a big variety in Japan and Korea.
In 1992, LIMOUSINE was also used when Michigan State University began compiling the mixture for the first completely covered turf in the Pontiac 5 Iver Dome in Detroit on the occasion of the 1994 World Cup in the USA. Today, LIMOUSINE is still an ideal mixture partner for high-endurance turf and, 37 years after its approval, is still one of the most popular turfgrass varieties in the world.

LIBANO
1988
LIBANO is a short stolon red fescue for lawn use. The variety is gaining international importance in France and England. It is versatile and salt tolerant, so it can be used well for roadside grass mixtures. It remains on the market for more than 30 years.

LIVISION
2003
A short stolon red fescue with very good disease resistance that is also hardy and dense. The variety is well suited for ornamental lawns.

EURODIAMOND
2006
One of the first perennial ryegrass varieties bred by EuroGrass. For many years, the variety was the No. 1 in Europe for sports grass use. A variety with high resilience and special winter hardiness. It has been used in many soccer stadiums by the top clubs in Europe.

TETRASPORT
2013
The first tetraploid perennial ryegrass variety for turf use is approved. A milestone for use in sports mixtures because the variety is particularly resilient and cold-tolerant.
Acquisition of Hunsballe and integration of EuroGrass Breeding GmbH & Co. KG into Deutsche Saatveredelung AG. The EuroGrass brand is retained as a product brand for professional turf mixtures.

EUROMIC
2016
The first "mini" white clover for lawn use is introduced. EUROMIC remains low and grows slowly. Unlike typical white clover, EUROMIC tolerates frequent mowing and moderate stress. Because of its ability to store atmospheric nitrogen, this lawn clover is suitable for parks and athletic fields and ameliorates low nitrogen nutrient levels to provide the surrounding grass plants with the collected nitrogen.
